While reading to this essay, I tried to imagine being at this festival. A big thing I was wondering how much planning did David do before this Festival, this Festival seems very famous and very busy. I know when I go to places I like to plan out what I want to go to and what I want to do. Since you have gone to this Lobster Festival do you eat lobster still? Who would be the audience who you think could benefit most from going to this Maine Lobster Festival? Do you agree with lobster eating and how we have to cook lobster form them being boiled alive, and how do you feel watching lobster get boiled and prepared right in front of you. How is lobster any different than cows or pigs?  Did going to this festival make you feel any different about your thoughts about lobster and how you cook lobster. When reading this it made me think more about the morals of this animal and how we just throw it in a boiling pan of water and we really never thought about the process of how we cook them. It takes 45 seconds for the lobster to die when being boiled. Bigger issues are how we raise animals the U.S alone raises around 120 million pigs for food each year. Many and most of these pigs get raises in barren crates and or pens and they don’t get fresh air or sunlight. Pigs are usually curious animals so the barren surroundings can cause frustration and abnormal behavior like tail-biting. They also are living on hard floors, ammonia fumes rise too dangerous and uncomfortable levels due to the high concentrations of waste. Ammonia affects animal health, it can cause multiple different things like tissue damage, it can also cause coughing and irritation to the pigs.  These effects can reduce growth performance. The pig manure is mainly a mixture of urine and feces this most likely contains bacteria from the lower digestive tract. These animals shouldn’t be living the worst life they should be raised outside and be able to walk around and be in the sun and breath fresh air. Many farms in today’s industry are listening to consumers who know that good far goes beyond personal ethics. There are many resources for farmers, ASPCA is helping farmers come up with a meaningful and transparent animal welfare practice and policy.
